New Part L Building Regulations 2010 (England and Wales)

knowledge

On 1st October 2010, Part L of the 2010 Building Regulations (England and Wales) called for a 25% reduction in carbon emissions from new buildings and improved energy efficiency requirements when carrying out the refurbishment of existing buildings.

New Part L Building Regulations can be found by following the links below.

Part L1a - Conservation of fuel and power (including thermal insulation) - new dwellings

Part L1b - Conservation of fuel and power (including thermal insulation) - existing dwellings

The following tables show U-values for Part L 2010 compared to Part L 2006. The relevant tables indicate both the limiting fabric U-values and the typical values that will be expected from 2010 regulations. Table 4 provides a comparison of the thickness of PIR insulation required to meet these new U-values compared to 2006 levels.
